Welcome to June. A new inhale.

Blooms Beneath Sky, (2025), Q. Gibson

This month we are exploring returning to the parts of ourselves that were once silenced, softened, or shattered in order for us to survive. So, I hope you’ve taken the weekend to prepare your space and that you’ve got your journal nearby. You’ll need it.

As we anchor into the theme: Return to Voice, I can remember many times along my own journey of becoming where I lost or silenced my own voice in order to preserve relationships (that I did not need), to feel loved or accepted, to keep perceived peace, or to self-protect from hurt. Each time I silenced myself, the outcome was never what I desired or tried to secure through silencing my own needs. Silence and self-abandonment in order to gain approval, love, or to self-protect almost always leads to an overburden of negative emotions. Regret, resentment, shame, self-loathing, and more come to mind.

Going into this week and into these prompts I want you to remember that just because someone is not equipped to hold your voice, your words, your power, your heart in a healthy way does not mean you must commit to silencing yourself. Where love is healthy, there is ample room for your voice to speak. There is space for you to be human, to share your needs without shame, and to be confident in your own capabilities.

Here’s your reflection and gentle prompt for this week:

When was the first time you can recall silencing your own voice? What was the circumstance and what did you believe silencing your voice would do for you? Did that work?

What parts of your voice have been muted by fear, survival, or someone else’s expectations and what would those parts say now if they were free to speak without any perceived consequences?

Journal through and read it aloud to yourself when finished. This one is for real and honest reflection. No perfect responses. No performing. Just sitting with your own truths. Feel free to reply and share if something moves you.
